How to generate Facebook Advertisement Reports

I have done up a simple "How-To" document that outlines the steps to generate a report for Facebook Advertisements. You can download the document at this link.

If you are too lazy to click and download the file, you can view the slides below.

The best way not to feel hopelessness

These are difficult weeks for all of you, I am aware.

Faced with multiple deadlines and a despair of things not going well for you, it is easy to want to give up because you feel hopeless.

But think about the words above.   This quote was posted by one of my former students who is now in Australia studying in a prestigious university.  When he was in SP, he wasn't exactly an A-grader.  But look how well he is doing now!

So never give up on yourself, go out and do something.   And you will definitely feel better. :)

New version of Facebook Insights - do you have it?

During our SMM lessons this week, I have been mostly showing you the current version of the "Facebook Insights".  Many of you are probably quite confused by the way the data is presented in this version, as there is little explanation of how you can interpret the information to help you in your Facebook Strategies.
Current version of Facebook Insights

Facebook probably realised that this situation is quite common among Facebook Page Administrators and the good news is that, its developers have come up with a better version of the Insights Page!  Instead of manually having to figure out when are the timings where your Facebook Page has the highest reach or which type of posts invite the highest engagement, the new interface is now built-in with tabs titled  "When Your Fans Are Online" and "Best Post Types"!

New version of Facebook insights show you
at one look when is the best time to post

Not everyone is able to access this new version of the Insights yet however.  You can easily try out the new interface if Facebook shows the following message to you.  If not, you can try clicking this link to see if it is available to you at this point of time.

Have fun playing around with it! :)

Got this message to try out the New Insights

One simply does not

Saw this on 9Gag Singapore Facebook Page and I think this idea can be applied on many of your companies' Facebook Pages :)

Helping each other out!

Saw several instances of my students helping each other out even though technically, they were 'rivals'! ;)

Very happy to see that!

Did you know you can schedule Facebook Posts in advance?

This morning, I came across Brandon's post in his group blog (Click on the picture on the right to view the blog entry).
In his post, Brandon shared the problem of how he forgot to put up the posts his group was supposed to publish on the Sweet Musings Facebook Page at the correct timing.

The timing of the posts was very important because these posts were designed as part of a mini competition that the group is running as an 'experiment' and fun way to engage the fans of the Page.   Basically, there would be certain letters that are posted during a specified time-block and after the time-block, it would b removed.  E.g. letter P is posted from 6 am to 8 am, letter I is posted from 11 am to 1 pm, letter E is posted from 3-5 pm etc.  The idea is to make the readers access the Page with purposeful intention during these times so that they can 'collect' the letters before they are removed from the Page and when the fan has collected all the letters of the day, he or she can stand to win prizes!

Sounds like a fun idea, doesn't it? :)  But the problem is, this competition takes a lot of discipline and time-management to execute if it is done manually.  So inevitably, Brandon and his team-mates in their busyness, forgot to post a couple of the letters at the right timing.  Well, we can't blame them, it would not be easy to do it if it was us.

But hey, let me share with you an easier and 'sure-proof' method!

You can automate the publication of the posts if you use Facebook's scheduling tool.

Click the "time" icon to access the Scheduling tool

Below is how you do it.  Just type your post as per normal like this, but before clicking on the "Post" button, click on the small "time" icon.  Once you click it, you will find that the interface changes to allow you to specify the date and time for posting in advance as shown below.  You then specify your desired date and time to post and press the "Schedule" button.  After that, Facebook will show you a confirmation that your post has been scheduled for publication!  And if you need to edit or delete the scheduled post, you can access the 'Use Activity Log' in the Admin panel to change the timing or remove it entirely.

Scroll to the top of the page where the Admin menu is, and click on "Edit Page->Use Activity Log"

Change the timing or Delete the post!

Have fun 'automating'! :)

Special praise for the TaskList of TaipeiCafe

This is a special tribute post to the TaipeiCafe team which has been doing tremendously well in all aspects.

  • The team keeps me updated by blogging really regularly (they have the highest blog post count among all teams)
  • Their Facebook Page fan count is growing at a very healthy rate
  • and I am always pleasantly greeted by chirpy looking posts some of which are decorated using LINE app as shown further below.

What's really got me is their TASKLIST.

Wow, so comprehensive.  I don't come across many groups which are that organized so I am really impressed!

Well-done Taipei Cafe and continue to jiayous for the next 10 days or so! :)

Healthy fancount that is constantly growing

Nice posts like this one are regularly posted on the FB page

Labelling really helps ah!

Thanks so much to those who responded to my call to label your posts, it really helps a great deal to see the distribution of posts among members as you can see from the screenshot below!

Special thanks goes to Winnie's group (1B21) too who started this method on their own blog and gave me the inspiration to do it for the other blogs too! :) Thanks Winnie and team!
